Title: Climate Change: Why all the Fuss?
Abstract: While the global climate has been changing due to natural factors throughout Earth's history, evidence for human interference with the climate system now suggests that expected rates of change during the next century are likely to be unprecedented in at least the past 10,000 years. Such rapid changes will have important implications for both natural ecosystems and human society. This presents an interesting and pressing challenge for not only the research community, but for policy makers, industry and society in general. The presentation will review the latest scientific evidence presented by the International Panel on Climate Change, for current and future human influences on climate and summarize some of the related implications for our future well-being. It will also discuss the challenge of effectively communicating complex science such as that of climate change to lay audiences, particularly those within the decision making community. Brochure
